Dr. Modupe Tunde-Byass Receives SOGC Mentorship Award

BORN Ontario congratulates Dr. Modupe Tunde-Byass on receiving the SOGC Mentorship Award, recognizing her outstanding national leadership and commitment to mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals.

"Mentorship provides a much needed support to the underrepresented in medicine. I am who I am today based on  the rewarding opportunity of bidirectional learning and professional development of mentorship."

A longstanding medical leader at North York General Hospital and Associate Professor at the University of Toronto, Dr. Tunde-Byass has advanced equity, quality improvement, and health literacy across Ontario. As co-chair of BORN’s Maternal Newborn Outcomes Committee, she plays a key role in guiding the use of data to improve perinatal and newborn care.

Her contributions include co-founding Women’s Health Education Made Simple (WHEMS), launching Canada’s first racially concordant mentorship program through the Black Physicians of Canada, and championing anti-racism in medicine. We are proud to celebrate her achievements and continued impact.

Please join us in celebrating Dr. Modupe Tunde-Byass for this well-deserved recognition!
