CHEO Research Institute Features Autism Spectrum Disorder Prediction Research
The CHEO Research Institute Annual Report featured work by BORN Ontario researchers Dr. Christine Armour and Dr. Kevin Dick exploring whether artificial intelligence (AI) can identify patterns in perinatal, newborn, and child health data to help identify young children who may be at increased risk of autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
With a bold vision of moving beyond case-by-case identification of ASD to a population-based screening approach, the aim of this research is to support earlier referrals for formal ASD assessment and timely access to resources, ultimately improving mental health outcomes and quality of life for children and families.
