Turning Data into Action to Improve the Health of Families across Ontario

BORN released its 2025–2026 Annual Report, highlighting the progress made over the past year to strengthen maternal, newborn and child health through data, insights and collaboration.  The report showcases how BORN data is being used to support care, inform policy and planning, advance research, and drive improvements across Ontario’s health system.

Highlights Include:

  • Supporting RSV protection: During the 2024–2025 season, 71% of infants in Ontario received RSV protection through infant or prenatal immunization.
  • Advancing perinatal health knowledge: BORN published A Decade and Beyond: Perinatal Health in Ontario 2012–2024, providing 12 years of data and insights on maternal and child health trends.
  • Looking ahead: BORN launched its 2025–2030 Strategic Plan, with a focus on modernizing technology to mobilize system intelligence, delivering authoritative insights, and driving improvements in screening, care and outcomes.
  • The Power of 1.9 Million: The BORN Information System now contains more than 1.9 million birth records, providing valuable information to support clinical care, research, policy and health system planning.

These achievements reflect the collective efforts of BORN’s partners—including care providers, data contributors, researchers, policymakers and community leaders. Their contributions make it possible to turn high-quality data into meaningful action for Ontario families.
