Explore two comprehensive legacy datasets from BORN Ontario’s archives. These historical data collections provide valuable insight into maternal, newborn, and perinatal care in Ontario during 2006–2011.
Midwifery Legacy Data (2006–2011)
Source: Ontario Midwifery Program Maternal Newborn Reporting System
Coverage: Record-level clinical, administrative, and service utilization data for all midwifery care courses invoiced between April 2006 and March 2012.
Notes: This dataset does not include data elements, pick-list values, or terminology added to the 2012–2013 BIS update. As a result, some legacy elements and pick-list values cannot be mapped directly to the current BIS Data Dictionary.
Niday Legacy Data (2006–2011)
Source: Niday Perinatal Database
Coverage: Birth record data from 2006–2011. Data completeness improved significantly during this period—from approximately 89% in 2006–2007 to nearly 100% by 2010–2012.
Notes: Like the Midwifery dataset, this dataset excludes data elements, pick-list values, and terminology introduced in the 2012–2013 BIS update. Mapping limitations may apply when aligning with the current BIS Data Dictionary.
