MNOC Subcommittee
Neonatal Working Group

The Neonatal Working Group provides expert advice to BORN to improve care for newborns, from low-risk to critically ill infants. The group draws on trusted data to guide decisions on clinical issues like resuscitation and thermoregulation, while also addressing broader factors such as equity, Indigenous wellness, and long-term child outcomes.
A key focus is ensuring high-quality, province-wide data from all NICUs in Ontario. The group works with partners to reduce reporting burden, improve data usability, and align BORN’s data with other systems such as the Canadian Neonatal Network. Members also help validate data quality and recommend updates to ensure information reflects current practice and supports better care.
Beyond data, the group advises on performance measures, supports research, and helps share insights from BORN data with health system partners. This work ensures that neonatal information is translated into action, supporting quality improvement and better outcomes for newborns and their families across Ontario.
