Dr. Nan Okun Receives SOGC President Award
BORN Ontario is pleased to congratulate Dr. Nan Okun, Co-Medical Director of Prenatal Screening Ontario (PSO), on receiving the 2025 President’s Award from the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada (SOGC).

This prestigious SOGC award recognizes Dr. Okun’s leadership, dedication, and significant contributions to maternal–fetal medicine in Canada. Widely recognized for her work in prenatal screening and maternal health policy, Dr. Okun demonstrates a strong commitment to clinical care, research, and education.
As a Professor at the University of Toronto and Co-Medical Director of Prenatal Screening Ontario (PSO), she has helped shape evidence-based practices and promoted equitable access to prenatal care across Canada. Her steadfast advocacy for improving outcomes for pregnant individuals and their families embodies PSO's core values and vision.
Dr. Okun credits both PSO and SOGC as longstanding influences throughout her career—from her early days presenting as a resident at SOGC on hepatitis B screening, to contributing to clinical guidelines and academic meetings. Today, she continues her work with both organizations, with a laser focus on improving equitable access to evidence-based population testing and care for important pregnancy complications in the first trimester. She says she's grateful to be a member of both organizations.
