RE COVID-19 study of pregnant women

Dear Colleagues:

In collaboration with BORN Ontario, we have initiated a project to collect information on any COVID-19-infected pregnant women admitted to The Ottawa Hospital (TOH) during the pandemic. We are extracting information directly from the hospital’s Electronic Health System rather than relying on clinical staff. Our aim is to link the identified cases to the BORN birth registry to get information about pregnancy outcomes as well as infant health in the first year (from the provincial CIHI-Discharge Abstract Database, which is available through BORN). This is similar to work that BORN Ontario led during the 2009 H1N1 influenza pandemic.

We would like to engage the collaboration of as many other additional hospital sites with electronic health record systems as possible, in order to provide the most provincially-representative evidence on the health of pregnant women and neonates in Ontario during this public health crisis.

Please let us know ASAP if you would be interested in collaborating in this initiative so we can arrange a short call early this week to discuss additional details.

Sincerely,
