About BORN

Mari Teitelbaum

Mari spent 15 years in high technology before bringing her expertise to the health care field. She earned her science degree with honours in electrical engineering from Queen's University and went on to work with companies such as Crystal Decisions and Watchfire, which was eventually acquired by IBM. Deeply aware of the power of IT to improve efficiency and effectiveness, she chose to switch sectors in 2008 to help propel the application of technology in health care.

Mari completed her masters in health administration at the University of Ottawa’s Telfer School of Management. She joined BORN as Manager of Health Informatics in 2009 and became director in 2010. During her tenure, she helped secure BORN’s status as a prescribed registry in Ontario and led completion and launch of the BORN information system in 2012. Her most recent role is as VP Technology & CIO of CHEO, working to support providers, patients and families with technology throughout the hospital. Mari has also published widely on information technology matters in the medical system while remaining an active volunteer in her community.
